Sample TOEFL Essay TopicsYour school's TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) requires that you take samples of sample TOEFL essay topics. The topics are evaluated by your TOEFL instructor before a pass or fail is assigned to you. By taking the samples, you have an idea of what to expect. It is not necessary for you to go over the sample topics with your instructor before taking the test.Sample TOEFL essay topics are formatted for the most common type of writing. There are two types of writing for the TOEFL test. They are the factual and narrative writing styles.Factual writing can be written on any topic. It can be about current events, local history, or personal experiences. Factual writing can be in one or more parts. The part structure of the topic can vary depending on how many parts are written and whether they are standalone paragraphs or part of a larger paragraph.Example: Part One is about the following: lunch, water, summer vacation, rainy day, eating lunch in the pa rk, my brother and sister, art history and current events. It can be a small single paragraph, a small paragraph divided into smaller paragraphs, or a whole paragraph divided into paragraphs. In this example, there would be two paragraphs containing one or more facts. The second paragraph could contain one or more facts about the subject, and the third paragraph could contain one or more facts about the subject.Part Two is about: 'The meat of the meal' can include the chicken breast, chicken, beef, or a combination of any three meats. 'My favorite kind of music' can include classical, blues, or jazz. 'Vegetables are my favorite' can include kale, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, and potatoes. The recipes are 'easy and quick to prepare' could include stir fry, chili, or brown rice.In Part Three, the items could be about how to decorate Christmas trees, write a song, write a screenplay, write a novel, or write a play. 'Pass the salt'No cooking allowed' is used for a factual study of a gro up of people, or a family who has eaten the same food but not cooked it together. For example, the topic of 'Green beans and rice' could be an example of a factual study.Examples: Part One is the two articles above; the rest are seven examples. The first two articles contain four facts; the last article contains five facts. These examples demonstrate the first part of the sample.Part Two is the other parts of the sample. This is the two articles about the 'how to decorate a Christmas tree' and the 'write a song' parts. This is the seven examples about the 'how to write a screenplay' and the 'write a novel' parts.
